Amjhupi Nilkuthi in Meherpur district, is a kind of a mysterious place. Research says, it is this factory where Robert Clive and Mir Jafar conspired to remove Sirajuddaula. If you are a history enthusiast, you’d definitely find this fascinating and creepy at the same time! However many do not accept this idea and call it a rumor. Nevertheless, it does not make the Nilkuthi any less of an archeological site. It is situated in a village called “Amjhupi” hence the name.

Amjhupi Nilkuthi, the tourist center built during the british period is located 4 miles east of the district town and is established on 6 acres of 26% land. The house is so old that the tiles inside of it are apparently more than 25 years old and the wooden furniture of it carry the tradition of that period. There’s a pigeon house to the right of the main building. And research says the British Baniyas used those pigeons as a means of communication.

This kuthi holds so much historic importance. This archaeological site was established during the English reign and apparently it bears the testimony of torture and exploitation of Kenny, Simpsons, James heel, Fergun Crawford, Warts, Hamillton and many other English rulers. It was originally built for indigo cultivation then it was used as the court office of the East India Company. It's only 173 km away from Dhaka so anyone can visit the place easily.
