Taj Mahal - monument

Tajganj, Agra, Uttar Pradesh

There are several intriguing facts regarding this monument. During the construction of the Taj Mahal, a thousand elephants were used to transport building materials. Jade and crystal came from China, jasper from Punjab, turquoise from Tibet, Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan, carnelian from Arabia, and sapphire from Sri Lanka. There are roughly 28 different types of precious and semi-precious stones in the famous marble inlay art. The structure is designed so that sunlight floods in through the jaali and falls directly on the cenotaphs. What a memorable experience I had there, and I will always treasure these memories.
