Travellers Experience / Reviews about Phulchowki

Phulchowki is considered as the God made garden of bright beautiful flowers. It is widely known for it’s variety of flora and fauna. The word " phul" means flower and the name couldn’t be more appropriate. Different species of flowers including wild roses, jasmines, rhododendrons - both white and dark red,can be found here. It is an ultimate destination for bird watchers too. Those who wish to enjoy the greeneries along with an awesome walking experience, the trip is highly recommended for them. There is a tower at the top which is guarded by Nepalese army, but tourists are allowed to go there and have a distant view of the Himalayas.

A day trip to Phulchowki is considered as perfect for escape from the noise and boredom of the city. It is only 15 km away from Kathmandu city center. There is famous Bhairab temple at the bottom of Phulchowki. There is an excellent hiking trail for adventure seeking tourists. While ascending there obe can lusten to the singing of several known and unknown birds and if fortunate enough, spot some wild animals as well. Wild boar, deer, monkey and leopard are some of the wild animals in the forest.

The hiking trip to Phulchowki takes three to fours hours for those who are good walkers. There are several resorts in the area for staying. There is a road where tourists can go by using vehicles as well but it is available until 7 pm. There is one canteen on the top where tea and some light snacks are available. It is suggested to carry some foods and water as it is going to take a long time to reach the top. Tourists are advised strongly to stay within the walking roads,as it can be difficult to find a lost person in the dense forest.
